Wild Pink has teamed up with indie star Samia for a new collaborative track called “Ohio”.
The three-piece Brooklyn group have been on a winning streak so far this year. Their breakup album A billion little lights went on sale in February to be immediately hailed as one of the best rock albums of the year, which they quickly followed with April’s aptly titled 6 cover songs EP. Riding their current tidal wave, Wild Pink has now shared the first song of their upcoming 3 pieces EP, released June 25 via Royal Mountain Records.
Singer John Ross says he wrote “Ohio” while touring with Adam Torress in 2018 between sound checks, according to a press release. “This song is about feeling isolated but then about the relief that comes from seeing family / friends,” says Ross of the inspiration behind the song. “It’s about comforting some of the mundane things I took for granted growing up, like the daily summer storms and the buzz of a swinging fan at night.”
Ross’s voice mingles with Samia’s over the quiet sound of a finger-picked guitar and a wave of budding electronics, giving “Ohio” an organic flow like an undulating flow. Listen below.
Samia recently released a remixed version of her 2020 album. The baby which featured collaborations with Palehound and Bartees Strange, among others.
