Revealed today, All the impulse will be released on June 10 via Cloud Command. To celebrate the announcement, the group unveiled their new single “On Again”, accompanied by a music video written by Marchant and directed by Carr. Marchant had this to say about the 12-track album:
“I’m interested in exploring the reverberations that occur after someone or something important leaves, and the ways we interact with those reverberations. The idea that one day I will die and become the effects of my actions while I was here inspires me. I tell a story about waking up to this and learning to see death through a warm lens.
The band collectively said this about the new visual:
“In the video, a man finds an envelope in his mailbox. It looks like one of those old AOL CD-Rom shippers (“90 HOURS FREE!”), but it says “Afterlife Online”. He puts it in his computer and begins to receive messages from a deceased friend, first through the computer, then through objects in his house. A painting comes to life, musical instruments play by themselves, and she sends a series of messages basically telling him to get his ass up and do good things while he can. It’s very related to the concept of the album, but it’s a bit bloated to fit the format.
Pre-orders for All the impulse can be done here. This follows Lightning Cult’s EPs titled Burner (2018) and ether waves (2019).
