The Sandy Lee Watkins Songwriters Festival returned last July after being forced to cancel the 2020 edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. His return has not only been greeted by fans of the event and those who enjoy live music, but also by nonprofits in the Henderson area who benefit from the profits raised from the event. In case you didn’t know, the value of bringing the songwriters for the three-day event every July isn’t just for us to enjoy great live music, it’s for fundraising. for nonprofits and other organizations that provide services to residents of Henderson County, as well as scholarships for area students pursuing careers in music or the arts. In order for these organizations and individuals to receive these funds, they must apply for them. A process that is underway now.
Event organizers opened the grant application process on Friday. To apply, simply download the application file from the event website and post it to the following address:

Before you start, know that there are certain conditions to know who can apply. According to the organizers, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- To be a non-profit organization serving primarily residents of Henderson County, Kentucky
- Have a commitment to long-term planning and financial accountability
- Have a good plan for your project or program
- Benefiting the Residents of Henderson County
Applications that will not be accepted are those seeking to reduce or repay their debts, political campaigns, cover travel costs for groups such as groups or sports teams, event sponsorships, annual appeals and contributions from members, or those submitted by organizations outside of Henderson.
Applications must be submitted before February 1, 2022 those selected to receive funds being notified before April 1.
