Radio host and singer-songwriter Damien Leith blackmailed the community with new Lockdown Choir project
Since I won Australian Idol in 2006, Irish-born singer Damien Leith proved to be as popular on air as he was for his singing career.
Now working on Wollongong’s Breakfast Radio on Wave FM, Leith decided to help inspire those stuck at home during the covid pandemic by creating an online musical group dubbed The Lockdown Choir.

“We were looking at the community, everyone is stuck, we thought we had to do something to bring everyone together, piss them off and feel a little positive,” Leith explained.
“We therefore put forward the idea of taking Bruno Mars Count on me and try to have so many voices … involved. The response has been amazing, it actually surprised us how many people got involved. “
“We had hundreds of people singing, dancing and sharing photos, it was awesome,” said Leith.
