Police identify truck driver killed in early morning crash near Gold Hill
GOLD HILL, Oregon –
UPDATE: Oregon State Police identified the semiconductor killed in an accident on I-5 Thursday morning. Pavlo Hryzhuk, 21, was from Citrus Heights, Calif., The agency said.
OSP said soldiers responded to the crash just after 3:30 a.m. Investigators determined that Hryzhuk was driving an international truck southbound on I-5 – not northbound, as the sheriff’s office said. had previously stated – carrying a load of electronics.
“For unknown reasons, the truck drifted to the right and collided with a large section of guardrail before exiting a bridge and coming to rest on the roadway below,” OSP said.
Emergency teams declared Hryzhuk dead at the scene. Investigators “are examining the possibility that fatigue” contributed to the accident.
OSP said the I-5 was not directly affected by the crash, but the northbound exit will remain closed as long as the recovery of the truck continues.
Hryzhuk’s family set up a GoFundMe page asking for help with her burial.
“He was the only boy with a family of seven children,” Ivanna Hryzhuk wrote. “We are trying to raise funds to bring her body home and give her a proper funeral. Please keep our family in your prayers, thank you.

UPDATE: ODOT indicates that the northbound slip road is now open at Exit 45B on Interstate 5. The exit ramp remains closed. The Twin Bridges road under the bridges is still closed for vehicle recovery.
I-5 traffic is not affected.

UPDATE: The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of a tractor-trailer died in an accident near Gold Hill.
The driver was heading north around 3:30 a.m. this morning when they crashed into a bridge railing just north of Valley of the Rogue State Park. The truck landed on Twin Bridges Road between the national park and the rest area.
Authorities have yet to identify the driver who died in the crash.
ODOT says the northbound and southbound ramps on I-5 and Twin Bridges are closed.
INITIAL REPORT: The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and several agencies are responding to an accident near Exit 45B.
Jackson County Dispatch confirms that a vehicle crossed a bridge near Exit 45B, landing on Twin Bridges Rd.
Currently Twin Bridges Rd. And 45B I-5 Northbound Exit is closed.
