Neal Morse Band releases music video for new single “Do It All Again”
NEAL MORSE BAND, now known simply as NMB, will release his fourth studio album, “Innocence & Danger”, August 27. The official music video for the first single on the disc, the opening track ” To start all over “, can be seen below. The clip was created by Christian Rios.
Drummer Mike Portnoy says this about the track: “It was the first song we wrote when we got together again for the sessions on this album. It came from an idea. Bill Hubauer brought it in and we built it from there. Like most NMB songs, I like sharing the main songs … Neal Morse on worms, Bill on the B section and a surprisingly catchy three-part harmony choir with Eric Gillette take the lead.”
With NMBthe previous two albums being concept albums, it is perhaps remarkable that “Innocence & Danger” is a series of unrelated songs, but the drummer Mike Portnoy says, “After two sprawling double concept albums in a row, it was refreshing to start writing a collection of unrelated individual songs again in the vein of our first album.”
Indeed, making this album has become easy for the group; whereas the initial inspiration came mainly from Bill Hubauer (keyboards) and Randy Georges (bass), ideas came from everyone from there, like George recalls, “I’m excited about the level of collaboration we’ve achieved on this one. We even went with a lot of ideas that weren’t necessarily developed, and I think in the end we have something that represents the best of everyone in The Band. “
In fact, like its two acclaimed predecessors, “Innocence & Danger” is a double album by inspiration, rather than design, like Portnoy explains, “As much as we wanted to try and stick to one album after just doing two double albums, we wrote so much material that we ended up with our third double album in a row. It’s kind of prog.”
There are also a lot of “Innocence & Danger” to excite prog fans who crave epics, like Neal Morse explains, “There’s a half-hour epic and another about 20 minutes. I really didn’t realize they were that long when we recorded them, which I guess is awesome. because if a movie is really good, you won’t. I realize it’s three hours. But there are also shorter songs: some have more pop elements, others heavier and some have acoustic sections in three parts.I’m really excited about all of this.
The album will be released as a limited 2CD + DVD digipak (including a making-of documentary), 3LP + 2CD box set, 2CD standard box set and digital album, with illustrations by Thomas ewerhard (TRANSATLANTIC).
