Moaning Lisa announces debut album “Something Like This But Not This”
Melbourne-via-Canberra indie rock band Moaning Lisa have shared details of their debut studio album, “Something Like This But Not This.”
The album, announced today (August 4), follows the release of two singles this year: “Something” from March and “Inadequacy” from last month. Both singles will appear on the LP, along with ten other tracks.
This week, the group also shared a new music video for “Inadequacy,” the song the album takes its name from via a lyric in its first verse. Directed by William He, the video stars Australian professional wrestlers York and Ritchie Taylor from Melbourne’s Deathmatch Downunder promotion.

In a press release, the band expressed how important their debut album was to them after five years as a band.
“We wanted to capture who we are and who we have been as a group throughout this early part of our existence,” they said.
“The original idea behind the tracklist was to capture the dynamics and flow of our live set. We wanted to replicate the energy that we have when we perform together on stage, but also to experiment and do things that we can only achieve with the luxury of recording in the studio.
The band started working on the LP at Golden Retriever Studios in Sydney with producer Ben Moore. Due to border restrictions, however, they were forced to complete the follow-up at a home studio in Melbourne with Candy’s Calum Newton.
“Obviously this was not all part of the original plan,” the group said.
“Looking back, being in these different environments – the pressure of this chic studio and the feel of Cal’s garage – is perfect for these songs.”
“Something Like This But Not This” is slated for release on October 8 via Farmer & The Owl.
The tracklist for “Something Like This But Not This” by Moaning Lisa is:
1. “Cold water”
4. “Too much”
9. “Don’t dream”
10. ‘Always work’
11. “It’s difficult”
12. “The wild days”
