
Meg Myers wins her first number 1 on BillboardThe Alternative Songs alternative songs streaming chart in record mode.
His cover of Kate Bush’s 1985 classic “Running Up That Hill” climbs 2-1 in its 42nd week on the chart (dated Feb. 1), rewriting the mark for the longest journey to the top in the three-decade history of the ranking.
He spends the 33-week journey of Fitz and the Tantrums’ “Out of My League” in 2013.

“Running Up That Hill” tangled with a similar venture on the all-rock format Rock Airplay chart, where it took 29 weeks to reach No. 1 (January 25), tied for the third-longest trip to the Mountain peak; “Out of My League” holds that mark with its 33-week rise. The song reigns over Rock Airplay for a second week, up 9% to 9.1 million viewership impressions, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Myers’ new frontman is by far his highest charting alternative song dating back to his first entry in 2014, surpassing his previous No. 16, with “Sorry” in June 2015.
“Running Up That Hill” also marks the first remake to reign alt songs since Lana Del Rey updated Sublime’s “Doin’ Time” for three weeks last fall.
Myers is the second artist in a row to score a No. 1 debut on Alternative Songs, following Absofacto with “Dissolve.”
Bush’s original No. 30 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 dated November 30, 1985 and remains his highest-charting single among four career Hot 100 entries. After Alternative Songs launched in 1988, she scored four top 10s in the survey through 1993.
