A loving farewell to your friend and neighbor: KRCC’s Vicky Gregor retires after 25 years
KRCC’s music coordinator and evening music mix host hangs up her hat, retiring after decades of providing the soundtrack of our lives on KRCC. Friday July 2, 2021 is his last musical broadcast. It starts at 8:00 p.m.
KRCC is airing an hour-long tribute to Vicky at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 2. He will repeat it on Saturday July 3 at 9 p.m. and again on Sunday July 4 at 10 a.m.
We are so grateful to Vicky for all she represents both to the KRCC team and to the musical landscape of southern Colorado, northern New Mexico and the world beyond.
As Vicky wrote in her last music newsletter, “It’s not goodbye, see you later!” :
I guess the best way to say this is “Goodbye … and hello!” I will end my evening music show on Friday July 2nd. After a few decades and more of music on the air for you, I realize that the preparation for my last show will be exactly the same as any other I have done. . I invite the muse to guide me, I remember the conversations I had with you about the bands and records you love, and finally, I open any drawer in our amazing music library and I m ‘dive into it.
You will see and hear me appearing everywhere in the near future. I will continue to write record reviews for the music newsletter. This way I don’t stop strangers on the street and start worrying about the last thing that catches my ear! Jeff and I are developing a 60 second “musical note” that will cover bands, albums and live performance recaps, which will be broadcast on KRCC. And, of course, the community hall you may have heard of at the Southern Colorado Public Media Center (720 N. Tejon) will host as many bands and musicians as possible. It will be my great honor to present anything and everything.
You have been a gift to me for all these years. Thank you. Music always sounds better in your company.
